I have a Japanese Pachislo slot machine that takes tokens. I've tried to put quarters in but the hopper doesn't dispense them properly and they get jammed up during payout. They fit okay but they don't fly out fast enough so they sit at the end of the chute. I suspect I need a different hopper. Can someone help? Comment? There are various mods you can do to their mechanical coin mechs to take a quarter but as you have found out the hoppers are not designed to use one. Non Pachislo machines use electronic coin comparitors. This allows you to change denominations by simply replacing the sample coin (or even use a token). The hoppers also have different wheels designed for different denominations. The pachislo parlors simply use change machines to issue tokens to the patrons. This way they can set the demoniation of the token to any value they want. From a purests point - the modification of a Pachislo with quarters, bandit arms, auto-stops is an attempt to make the machine something that it is not. If you want Vegas buy a Vegas style unit and don't waste your time (and money) converting these. Personally I have several of each kind of machine and I run them all on tokens. I bought a coin roller machine and hand out rolls of tokens to my friends to give them a sense of how much they are winning or losing. Tokens fit nicely in those shot-gun style quarter wrappers.
